The following signs will warn you that it’s time to make a Ford service appointment asap. Don’t delay and allow a small problem to change into an expensive repair.

1. The Lights on the Dashboard Stay On

The lights on your dashboard will warn you when there is a problem. If any of the warning lights stay on, there is something wrong.

2. Unfamiliar Sounds

If you hear unfamiliar noises, let a technician sort out the problem. Here is a list of sounds and what causes them:

Squealing

When you brake, and you hear a high pitched squeal, you need new brake pads.

Rattling

If this sound is coming from under the hood, it could mean different things. It could be a broken fan clutch, for instance, but whatever it is, it’s not good.

Clinging

This sound could be caused by a loose exhaust system if the clinging sound is coming from under your car.

Grinding

This is caused by a worn-out clutch or a problem with the transmission.

3. Puddles Under Your Car

Whenever you see that your vehicle is leaking fluids, it is a sign that you need to take it for a service.

4. Vibrations When Driving

When you feel vibrations while driving, it may be a sign of tire damage. The vibrations can also be caused by a bad transmission.

5. Pulling When Braking

When you brake and your car pulls to one side, the cause is usually worn brake pads or disks, a steering or suspension problem.

6. You Struggle to Start You Car

This could be a sign that your vehicle’s battery needs replacing. Check if the battery light on the dashboard stays on and see if the lights are less bright.

7. Your Car Cuts Out or Stalls

This is an indication that there could be something wrong with the engine. This could also be caused by spark plugs or the fuel filter.

8. You See Smoke or Steam

When you see smoke coming out from under the hood, it is burning oil and needs to be seen asap. If the smoke is coming from the exhaust, and it is blue in color, it is cause for concern. Steam from under the hood is caused by overheating.

9. The Tires Have Cracks, Bubbles or Look Worn

Check the tread grooves and indicator bars and if the tread is flush with the indicator bar, get the tires replaced. If you see cracks, bubbles, and bulges, it’s time for new tires. Also, if you have to inflate your tires regularly, there could be a slow puncture.

10. Poor Fuel Consumption

When your car is suddenly guzzling more fuel than usual, but you are driving the same distances, it’s a sign to get a service.
