2024 Ford Explorer King Ranch

The 2024 Ford Explorer is as popular as its predecessor. This versatile SUV is available in eight trim levels, each offering something slightly different.

1. Explorer Base

At the base level, the Explorer starts with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The exterior features 18-inch alloy, second and third-row privacy glass, LED headlamps and taillamps, and a power liftgate for easy loading and unloading. Inside, you’ll find an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, a manual passenger seat, and tri-zone automatic temperature control for comfort.

Infotainment is via an eight-inch touchscreen and a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system that delivers quality sound. Ford also equips the base model with handy safety features, including a lane-keeping system, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.

2. XLT

XLT adds LED signature lighting, heated exterior mirrors, and roof rails to the exterior. Front passenger seats become power-adjustable, and drivers have additional comfort with the 10-way adjustable seat and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Tech is also upgraded with a push-button start and a 10.1-inch touchscreen.

3. ST-Line

ST-Line gives the Explorer a sporty makeover, introducing dark-tinted head and taillamps, power-folding mirrors, and a black grille with trim. Inside, the makeover continues with synthetic leather and suede upholstery and ambient lighting to change the mood of the interior.

4. Timberline

Based on the XLT the Timberline is for off-road fans. It’s the only model with AWD as standard and features all-terrain tires, hill descent control, and off-road suspension tuning. Steel skid plates adorn the underbody.

5. Limited

Limited expands on the XLT and ST-Line upgrades. A chrome exterior trim, leather upholstery with accent stitching, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel give the Limited a more luxurious feel. Second-row passengers benefit from heated seating and sunshades.

6. ST

The ST introduces a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine. Unique to the ST is a sport-tuned suspension system and transmission paddle shifters to make changing gear a breeze.

7. King Ranch

King Ranch keeps the V6 and adds Western tones to the Limited. A stone gray grille mesh insert and aluminum and black roof rails adorn the outside, while Del Rio leather covers the seats throughout. Additional driver assist features include front parking sensors and reverse brake assist.

8. Platinum

Platinum is the ultimate luxury Explorer with polished 21-inch wheels, luster nickel-painted pockets, and a satin aluminum grille. Stepping inside, you’re greeted by leather seating with diamond-patterned inserts and a leather-covered center console. Adaptive headlamps and rain-sensing wipers are also fitted as standard.
