There are so many interesting things to do in Pembroke Pines, FL. Located in southeastern Florida, there are beautiful nature parks to stroll as well as tours and activities for people of all ages. There are plenty of beaches, as close as 4 miles away from the city center. And there’s plenty to enjoy in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, each around 20 miles away.

 

Flamingo Gardens 

This lush tropic botanic garden and sanctuary is only 7 miles away from Pembroke Pines. In 1927, Floyd and Jane Wray purchased land and began planting citrus groves and many other kinds of plants. Now there are over 3000 species of exotic, tropical, and native plants to enjoy. Also on the property is the Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary, which has peacocks, alligators, otters, and many more fun animals to watch.

Buehler Planetarium

In Davies, Florida, about seven miles away from Pembroke Pines, the Buehler Planetarium is a nighttime delight for visitors who want to look at the stars. The Broward College Observatory outside the Planetarium has a microscope where you can see the moon and many planets. The Planetarium and Observatory are free to the public.

Tour Helicopter

If a helicopter ride is on your bucket list, this one will be a treat – you can take a tour in the sky to see the Florida coast and its gorgeous sites. Numerous tours include hovering over beautiful North Miami Beach the Everglades and Key Biscayne, and the tour lengths range from 15 minutes to an hour or more.

C.B. Smith Park

Here’s a fun place for everyone in your group. A public park in Pembroke Pines, C.B. Smith Park has a water park called Paradise Cove as well as mini-golf, batting cages, courts for racquetball and tennis, and tons of other activities. The Burrowing Owl, an endangered species, also makes a home there. The admission is only $1.50, a good value for such an entertaining spot.

Pembroke Gardens

This outdoor mall is right in the middle of Pembroke Pines and is an ideal place for shoppers. In addition to numerous restaurants, there are tons of great stores – the Loft, Carter’s, Barnes & Noble, and many more. And in the center of the mall, you can grab a beverage and take a break on one of the many beautiful benches painted by local artists.

Brian Piccolo Park Sport Park & Velodrome

This fun recreational park is just a few minutes away from Pembroke Pines. It was named after the beloved Bears football player Brian Piccolo, who passed at 26 years old from cancer. At the park, there are several sports fields and a park designated for skating and skateboarding.
