Here in Pembroke Pines, we’re close enough to the islands to get some authentic Caribbean cuisine right here in our hometown. Don’t believe us? Check out any of the Caribbean restaurants that made our list below and see for yourself. Just be sure to bring a healthy appetite along with you, because each of these spots serves up hearty meals that you’ll need a mighty hunger to tackle. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

1. Fiery Irie Jamaican Restaurant

Eat ‘irie,’ as they say down in Jamaica, at this local treasure. And they didn’t put “fiery” in the name for nothing, either. The jerk chicken and pork both pack a zesty kick. You can get a personal order of either one or go for a family deal that serves four, as long as you’re willing to share this tasty treat. You can cool off your palette with a glass of the coconut water they serve up here.

2. Bahama Breeze

The vibrant island atmosphere at Bahama Breeze will make you feel like you’re on a tropical vacation. We promise you haven’t tried anything as good as the empanadas they serve up here. The beef filling is seasoned to perfection, and the pineapple chutney and seasoned sour cream it comes served with make the perfect complements to these tasty pastries. Save room for dessert, because the key lime pie here is second to none.

3. Donna’s Caribbean Restaurant

If you’re missing Jamaica, the food here will take you right back to the island. For a classic island dish, try the oxtail. Served over white rice and peas, the meat is seasoned with a flavorful punch that will have you ordering seconds. If you’re in the mood for seafood instead, the ackee and saltfish dish is also a solid order. Or stop in early to get their breakfast corned beef and cabbage.

4. Island in the Pines

With a warm, welcoming staff and colorful décor, we felt right at home at Island in the Pines. But the best part was the food. If you like things spicy, do yourself a favor and get an order of pepper pot soup. You’ll have options once you’re ready to move on to the main course, but we recommend the curry goat. They certainly do the classic dish justice with their rendition of it.

5. Tropics Restaurant and Nightclub

Not only is the Caribbean fare here as good as anywhere else from our list, but it’s also a lively spot to spend the evening. Whether you want to dance after you’ve had a bite to eat, or you prefer kicking back and watching the game or playing pool, the fun and laid-back atmosphere here makes it the perfect spot. Their jerk chicken wings are so addictive, we’ll bet you can’t eat just one.

These places keep the tradition of great Caribbean food alive and well. At our dealership, we have a tradition of great service that we keep with each customer who walks in our door. Visit us today at Pines Lincoln!
