With so many things to do in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, it can be easy to forget the biggest attraction in the entire area — the beach! Check out these beaches in the Fort Lauderdale area the next time you want to get some sun and take a swim.

  1. Deerfield Beach

Deerfield Beach is the northernmost beach in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area and is known as a great destination for families with children. The Deerfield community is friendly and outgoing with many shops lining the boardwalk and lovely parks and restaurants within the community. There are also lots of outdoor activities to keep active families busy. For example, you can check out one of the first water ski parks in the United States: the Ski Rixen.

Deerfield Beach is an award-winning beach that openly welcomes travelers to relax on the sand and enjoy the cool Intracoastal water. For more information on what the Deerfield Beach Community has to offer, you can visit the official website or give the Chamber of Commerce a call at  (954) 427-1050.

  1. Hillsboro Beach

If a relaxing, quiet beach is your idea of a good time, then you will definitely want to check out the Hillsboro Beach community located on a secluded stretch of the coastal strip with only two points of entry into the Greater Fort Lauderdale area.

Visitors can take a tour of the Hillsboro lighthouse, look for tortoises that lay eggs on the beach, check out the stone statue of the “Barefoot Mailman,” or simply relax on the beach. Hillsboro Beach is a great vacation destination where you can get away from it all while still being close to the busy city.

  1. Pompano Beach

Located just south of Hillsboro Beach, the Pompano community played an important role in the development in South Florida due to its location and use as a railroad station. Nowadays, Pompano Beach is a popular tourist destination for those who love sports and games. There are all sorts of games to play in and out of the water, and yearly events such as the Pompano Seafood Festival and Fishing Rodeo will provide some serious excitement.

The Pompano community has a visitor’s guide online where prospective travelers check out the latest news, recommended hotels, and what upcoming events they can look forward to.
